Stone Systems We Install
From lightweight manufactured veneer to full-thickness natural stone, we work with every major stone system and help you choose the right product for your home, budget, and design goals.
The Modern Standard for Exterior Stone
Manufactured Stone Veneer
Manufactured stone veneer (MSV) is a lightweight concrete-based product engineered to replicate the look of natural stone at a fraction of the weight and cost. Modern MSV products are virtually indistinguishable from natural stone and are available in hundreds of profiles, colors, and textures. We install leading brands including Eldorado Stone, Cultured Stone, and ProVia.
Key Advantages
- Lightweight — no structural reinforcement required
- Hundreds of profiles, colors, and textures available
- Lower cost than full-thickness natural stone
- Consistent color and profile across the project
- Meets California building code for exterior cladding
Best For
Full façade cladding, accent walls, columns, and any application where natural stone weight or cost is a constraint
The Value of Stone
Why Stone Veneer Transforms a Home
Instant Curb Appeal
Stone is one of the most powerful curb-appeal upgrades available. Even a partial stone accent — a column base, a wainscot band, an entry surround — dramatically elevates a home's perceived value and visual presence.
Fire Resistance
Natural and manufactured stone are non-combustible materials. Stone veneer on exterior walls, columns, and eave soffits is a recognized fire-hardening upgrade under California's WUI construction standards.
Durability & Low Maintenance
Properly installed stone veneer requires virtually no maintenance. It won't rot, warp, fade, or require repainting. Natural stone installations routinely outlast the buildings they're attached to.
Increased Property Value
Stone veneer consistently delivers strong ROI. Appraisers and buyers recognize stone as a premium material — full façade stone cladding can increase appraised value by 6–10% on comparable homes.
Design Versatility
Stone works across every architectural style — from rustic Craftsman to contemporary minimalist. With hundreds of profiles, colors, and textures available, we can match any design direction.
Integrated Installation
We integrate stone installation with our siding, stucco, and metal fabrication scopes. Flashing, moisture barriers, and transitions are designed as a complete system — not patched together after the fact.
How We Work
Our Stone Installation Process
From design consultation to final inspection, every stone installation follows a proven process that ensures watertight performance and lasting beauty.
Design Consultation & Material Selection
We review your home's architecture, existing materials, and design goals to recommend the right stone system, profile, and color palette. We bring physical samples so you can see how the stone looks against your existing exterior before committing.
Substrate Assessment & Preparation
We inspect the existing wall assembly for moisture damage, structural issues, and substrate compatibility. Any rot, failed flashing, or moisture barrier deficiencies are addressed before stone installation begins — stone installed over a compromised substrate will fail prematurely.
Moisture Barrier & Lath Installation
A code-compliant water-resistive barrier and metal lath are installed over the prepared substrate. Proper flashing is integrated at all transitions — windows, doors, rooflines, and grade. This layer is the foundation of a watertight installation.
Scratch Coat Application
A scratch coat of mortar is applied over the lath and allowed to cure. This creates the bonding surface for the stone and ensures a consistent, stable base across the entire installation area.
Stone Setting & Grouting
Stone pieces are set in a full mortar bed following the approved layout pattern. Corner pieces are installed first to establish clean, consistent reveals. Joints are tooled and grouted to the specified profile — tight dry-stack, raked, or flush.
Final Inspection & Sealing
The completed installation is inspected for consistent joint width, proper mortar coverage, and clean transitions at all edges. A penetrating sealer is applied where specified to protect against moisture absorption and staining.

Our Commitment
Why Choose APCG for Stone Veneer
Masonry Expertise
Stone veneer installation is a masonry trade — not a siding trade. Our crews are trained in proper mortar mixing, full-bed setting, and joint tooling. We don't cut corners with adhesive-only installation methods.
Integrated Exterior Scopes
Stone is rarely installed in isolation. We integrate stone with siding, stucco, metal flashing, and fire-hardening scopes so every transition is properly detailed and watertight.
California WUI Knowledge
We understand how stone fits into California's Wildland-Urban Interface fire-hardening requirements. Non-combustible stone cladding on exterior walls and columns is a recognized upgrade under CAL FIRE guidelines.
Premium Material Partners
We work with Eldorado Stone, Cultured Stone, ProVia, and regional natural stone quarries. Our supplier relationships give us access to the full product range and ensure consistent material availability throughout your project.
15+ Years Sacramento Experience
We've installed stone veneer on hundreds of Sacramento-area homes. We know the local climate, the common installation failures, and how to build systems that perform for decades.
